Aikido

Nick Walker Aikido KoshinageI’m the founder and senior instructor of Aikido Shusekai, an aikido dojo in Berkeley, California.

I hold a 6th degree black belt in aikido, and I’ve been teaching the art to adults, teens, and children for over thirty years.

I’m available to visit aikido dojos, and to teach aikido at seminars or retreats, anywhere in the world. Just drop me an email.

Aikido is a martial art that teaches people to transcend habitual fight/flight reactions to conflict, in favor of more graceful and empowered responses. My years of practicing and teaching this art have shaped the way I approach my life and my work. I’ve learned to view all challenges as opportunities for creativity, learning, and positive transformation.

The aikido perspective informs all of my work. Whatever the topic about which I’m speaking, teaching, or consulting, my goal is to teach my students and clients how to discover, access, develop, and utilize the strengths, opportunities, and creative potentials that – obvious or not – are intrinsic in every person, every group, and every situation.

Aikido Shusekai is located at 2525 8th Street, Studio 12, in Berkeley, California. The class schedule and other information can be found on the Aikido Shusekai website at aikiarts.com. The website also features an interview with me that provides a more in-depth look at aikido, the dojo, and my aikido teaching philosophy.
